Thank you again for your interest in the 2010 Walk for Animals!

Do I have to raise money to attend the Walk?

The Walk is a fundraiser for the Animal Humane Society. We depend on the proceeds of the Walk to care for the nearly 35,000 homeless and neglected companion animals we take in each year. There is not a minimum fundraising requirement to attend the Walk, but a $25 donation is suggested to help cover costs. Raising money above and beyond the suggested donation means you are helping more animals, AND you can earn great prizes!

Can I raise money offline (checks and cash) if I sign up online?

Yes! You can raise money through the webpage, and also receive cash/checks as well.  You can record these donations in the participant center or hold onto them until the day of the Walk.

Where can I get a pledge form for my offline donations?

It's easy!  Simply click here to download a pdf of the pledge form.

When is the last day to raise money online?

We will award your Walk incentive prizes based on the amount of money you’ve raised as of Walk day, Saturday, May 1. However, the website will still be open for 60 days after the Walk, in the event more people would like to make a donation.

How can I include monies raised off-line on my website total?

All monies you raised, on-line and off-line, will count towards your overall total and prizes. One of the new features available this year is the ability to record the cash or check donations you've received offline. Simply record your offline donation in your participant center and send in the funds you raised with a coversheet. Once we receive your offline donations we will confirm them in your account and they will appear on your personal Walk page. To ensure your gifts are confirmed before the Walk, mail all offline donations by April 18, 2010. Please hold on to any donations you receive after that date and bring them with you to registration.

Why isn’t a gift showing on my online fundraising page?

The main reason the gift is not showing is because the person who made the gift on-line did not complete the on-line gift process. Questions to ask yourself are: Did you receive an email gift notification? Did the donor receive an email thank you for their gift? If the answer is “no”, then the gift was not completed – there are 3 steps to making the gift – make sure the donor scrolls down to the bottom of each page when making their gift.

Are you part of a team and a gift made by a donor was meant for you but only shows on the team page/total? This means your donor made the gift to the team rather than to you specifically.  If you need to a gift moved from the team page to your personal page, please contact us at infoevents@animalhumanesociety.org

Can I attend the Walk if I don’t want to bring a pet?

Yes! We have many people who attend the Walk and leave their pets at home. If you don’t have a pet, or you feel the Walk may be stressful for your pet, please leave your pet at home.

Can I take a shelter dog on the Walk instead of my own pet?

No. We don’t want to create additional stress for our shelter animals and want them to be available to our customers for adoption.

What do I need to bring with me to the Walk?

If you raise money online, please print off your progress report showing the amount of money you’ve raised (we’ll email you instructions on how to do this when we get close to Walk day). If you received any cash or check donations, please bring them to the Walk. Also, please bring any matching gift forms. We also will have several food and merchandise vendors at the Walk to purchase goodies for you and your pet! Please note, not all vendors will be able to process credit cards so you may want to bring cash or use our onsite ATM.

I’m thinking about bringing my horse/donkey/other large animal. What do I need to know beforehand?

Your large animal is welcome at the Walk. However, it may be difficult to park your trailer. If you do plan on bringing a large animal, you’ll need to arrive by 7:30 am to find a nearby space to park. You can park your trailer at the Koch lot (next door to AHS), in the back of the lot near the railroad tracks. If you bring a large animal, you are responsible for cleaning up after them. Bring another person to follow behind on “poop duty”.
