Questions about fundraising
Do I have to raise money to attend the Walk?
Although Animal Humane Society relies on this fundraiser to care for homeless and mistreated companion animals, there is no minimum fundraising requirement to attend. However, we do suggest a $25 donation to help cover costs. Remember, the more money we raise, the more animals we can help.
Take a look at some great prizes specifically for our fundraisers.
Do I have to attend the Walk to raise money?
Whether you are a “Dog Walker” or a “Cat Napper”, you can still raise money to care for animals. We do not require your attendance in order to fundraise. However, we should reiterate just how much fun the Walk for Animals is!
Can I raise money offline (checks and cash) if I sign up online?
Absolutely! Every participant may choose their preferred fundraising format. You can record your offline contributions in your participant center, or hold onto them until Walk registration.
Where can I get a pledge form for my offline donations?
It's easy! Simply visit our forms page to download the pledge form or to request one be sent to you in the mail.
How can I include funds raised off-line on my website total?
To include offline funds on your personal website, follow these easy instructions.
- Record your offline donations in your Participant Center online.
- Send your collected donations with this coversheet to
Animal Humane Society
Attn: Walk for Animals
Animal Humane Society
845 Meadow Lane North
Golden Valley, MN 55422
Once we have received your offline donations, we will confirm them and you will see them appear on your personal Walk page. In order to ensure your gifts are confirmed before the Walk, please mail all offline donations no later than April 15. If you receive funds after this date, we request that you hold onto them until check-in on Walk day.
Why isn’t a gift showing on my online fundraising page?
It can take up to 15 minutes for your gifts to show up on your personal page. If more than 15 minutes have passed, here are some common reasons why.
- The donation went to your team page. If you are on a team, it may be possible that the donor sent the donation to the team page instead of your individual page. If you need a donation moved from the team page to your personal page, please fill out this form.
- The donor used the general Animal Humane Society donation form. The only way a gift can be credited to you is if donors use the link on your personal page. Other forms, like the one on the Animal Humane Society homepage or the general Walk donation form, do not have a participant name associated with it and thus cannot be counted toward your total. If this happened to you, please let us know and we will be glad to help you.
- The donation was never processed. Please have your donor check to see if they have received a confirmation email for the donation. If they have not received an email confirmation, the donation most likely did not get processed. Please have them check with their bank/credit card company to ensure they haven't been charged and try the process again.
If you need more assistance tracking down a missing donation, please fill out this form , providing as much detail as possible.
When is the last day to raise money online?
After the day of the walk, you can still collect donations through our website for 60 days. However, prize seekers should be aware that we cannot award prizes after the day of the walk.
Can I still raise money if I cannot attend the Walk?
We’ll miss you, but attendance is not required to be a participant. If you have offline funds to turn in, either attend our early check-in on May 2nd, or mail them to:
Walk for Animals
Attn: Walk for Animals
845 Meadow Lane North
Golden Valley, MN 55422
What if I raise more money between early check-in and the Walk day?
You can do one of two things:
- Check-in a second time when you arrive at the Walk to contribute the additional funds. Please note on the form that it is your second check-in form.
- Mail in a second form with the funds after the event.
What do I do with late pledges after the walk?
If you receive pledges after the Walk, please mail them to:
Animal Humane Society
Attn: Walk for Animals
845 Meadow Lane North
Golden Valley, MN 55422
Please include a note with your name, address, and a request to add the donations to your Walk total. Those who donate by check or credit card will be thanked by Animal Humane Society.
What are “badges” and how do they work?
Badges are
awards you get for exceptional involvement in the Walk for Animals. You can earn them by sending emails, receiving donations and more! Try to see
how many you can earn. Check out the list of available badges.
Can I get receipts from the Animal Humane
Society so I can give them to my donors who request them?
All donors who
contribute by credit card or check will receive a statement of thanks from
Animal Humane Society. This gratitude includes their donation information and
acts as a receipt.
If you receive cash donations, please be sure to include the donor's first and last name and full mailing address so we can mail them their receipt.
Why are there random characters and symbols in my Walk profile page?
This is an issue with the system that powers our site on the back-end. We are currently doing everything we can to rectify the situation and appreciate your patience.
Questions about donating
Is donating online safe/secure?
You can donate without worry knowing that we partner with the online fundraising experts at Convio to ensure the safest and most secure transactions possible.
I’ve donated money, but it’s not showing up on the
individual’s page.
Please keep in mind it can take up to 15 minutes for a gift to appear on a personal page. If that time has passed, there a couple other things to check.
- If the person you donated to is on a team, please check to see if your gift is listed on their team page. If it is, please contact us so we can move it over to their personal page.
- If the gift isn't appearing on the team page, please check to see if you have received a confirmation email for your donation. If you have not received that email confirmation, your donation most likely did not get processed. Please check with your bank/credit card company that you haven't been charged and try the process again.
- If you do have a donation receipt, please contact us so we can credit the donation to the correct Walker.

entire distance?
The
walk is approximately five miles. It kicks off at our Golden Valley shelter and
