Get your wag on at the 41st Annual Walk for Animals!
The countdown is on to Walk day! As Animal Humane Society’s largest annual fundraiser, the Walk for Animals brings together more than 8,000 people and 3,000 animals to wag, walk, and raise funds for homeless and neglected pets across Minnesota.
Please donate today to helping thousands of animals get the second chances they deserve. Every dollar raised for the Walk helps provide medical treatment, behavior programs, and nurturing care to the nearly 24,000 animals who come into our five Minnesota shelters each year.
Then join us at the Walk for Animals celebration this Saturday, May 2! Here’s what you need to know for Walk day.
SCHEDULE AND MAP
Early check-in is Thursday, April 30, from 4-8 p.m. at our Golden Valley and St. Paul sites. Turn in your funds and collect your prizes early!
PARKING AND SHUTTLES
A traffic plan has been designed to ensure safety, avoid confusion, and keep traffic flowing. For more information, please visit Parking and Shuttle Buses. If you reach the $1,000 fundraising mark between now and 4 p.m. on Friday, May 1, you’ll receive a parking pass by email on Friday evening. Be sure to check your email for this voucher if you qualify.
When you check in, be sure you notify our staff if you have adopted from AHS, so that your pet can receive special recognition. If you raised funds online, please bring a printout of your online fundraising total to check-in, along with any checks/cash to collect your premiums. Then you will be directed to where you should officially check in and pick up your prizes.
CASH, VENDORS, AND FOOD
There will be plenty of great food and vendors at the Walk this year. Please come prepared with cash, as vendors are cash only and there is no cash machine on site. A portion of the proceeds comes back to Animal Humane Society!
PHOTO OPPS AND SOCIAL MEDIA
Make memories at two tail-wagging photo areas along the Walk route! Remember to tag your Walk day photos with #wagomania2015: all tagged photos will be featured on the Walk website and on the Walk for Animals Facebook page. Follow Animal Humane Society on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for photos and updates all day long.
The Walk is always rain or shine, and we have a great time celebrating our love for animals no matter what. Still, it’s a good idea to check the forecast and come prepared for whatever the weather has in store.
